Position Summary
Our client in the energy space is hiring an IT Manager – Data Operations & Platforms to lead a team responsible for enterprise data platforms, data product operations, and next-generation capabilities across analytics, automation, and AI. This is a highly visible management role for a leader who understands how modern data platforms are built, governed, and scaled in large organizations.
The right person will bring a blend of platform leadership, people management, and practical delivery experience across cloud data ecosystems. This team supports reusable data products and enterprise capabilities that enable reporting, analytics, machine learning, automation, and contextualized data use cases.
This is a full-time onsite role based in San Antonio, TX; Findlay, OH; Denver, CO; or Houston, TX. Relocation support is available.
Responsibilities
Our client in the energy space is hiring an IT Manager – Data Operations & Platforms to lead a team responsible for enterprise data platforms, data product operations, and next-generation capabilities across analytics, automation, and AI. This is a highly visible management role for a leader who understands how modern data platforms are built, governed, and scaled in large organizations.
- Lead the strategy, delivery, and lifecycle management of enterprise data and analytics platforms.
- Oversee teams supporting data products, platform engineering, and operational excellence across analytics environments.
- Guide architecture and delivery across technologies such as Azure Synapse, Microsoft Purview, Power BI, Databricks, and Cognite.
- Support the development of scalable data products that enable analytics, machine learning, reporting, and AI-driven business solutions.
- Partner with enterprise architecture, engineering, and business stakeholders to evolve integration patterns and platform capabilities.
- Manage platform reliability, monitoring, cost optimization, incident response, and operational governance.
- Lead initiatives involving AI/ML, MLOps, robotic process automation, and agentic AI where relevant to platform strategy.
- Oversee external partners, contractors, and platform administrators.
- Coach and develop managers, senior leads, architects, and technical contributors across the team.
- Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory expectations while improving platform adoption and business value.
Minimum Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, or another related technical field.
- 10+ years of diversified IT experience.
- 3+ years of people leadership with direct reports.
- Prior leadership experience in data platforms, DevOps, analytics engineering, or related enterprise data environments.
- Strong understanding of cloud data platforms and enterprise data product delivery.
- Experience leading teams responsible for platform support, engineering, and operational governance.
- Ability to manage cross-functional priorities and communicate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.
Additional Plus
- Hands-on or leadership experience with Cognite.
- Experience with MLOps, AI/ML platforms, robotic process automation, or contextualized industrial data.
- Experience managing senior technical staff, architects, and layered reporting structures.
- Background in large-scale enterprise analytics environments within energy, industrial, or asset-heavy sectors.
