Head of Engineering – Tech Startup
A founder of a startup with close ties to The Doyle Group has engaged us in a search for their next Head of Engineering. This rapidly growing tech company is on a mission to transform building code automation, saving business owners time and money. Their platform replaces outdated, manual processes with instant access to building code data—available at the click of a button or through a single API call.
Since launching in 2019, their software has grown organically to over 15,000 users in just 24 months. As they continue expanding their audience and platform, they are looking for a technical leader who can build and manage a high-performing engineering team while scaling their cross-platform web and native applications.
The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a Head of Engineering to lead a growing team, drive technical excellence, and scale the platform to meet increasing demand. Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Strategy
- Define and execute the technical vision, strategy, and roadmap to support long-term growth.
- Ensure scalability, security, and reliability, implementing best practices in cloud architecture, DevOps, and performance optimization.
- Oversee the evolution of their SaaS architecture, ensuring it supports product expansion and integrations.
Team & Culture
- Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Implement hiring, onboarding, and professional development strategies to attract and retain top engineering talent.
- Collaborate with Product, Sales, and Leadership teams to align engineering efforts with business goals.
Execution & Delivery
- Drive agile development processes, ensuring efficient sprint execution and high-quality software releases.
- Establish engineering KPIs and metrics to measure team performance and optimize development cycles.
- Balance short-term priorities with long-term technical debt management and scalability needs.
Innovation & Problem-Solving
- Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies that enhance platform capabilities and user experience.
- Oversee data strategy, AI/ML opportunities, and automation efforts to improve operational efficiency.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to infrastructure, security, and compliance.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of engineering experience, with 5+ years in a leadership role (Director, VP, or similar).
- Strong expertise in scalable SaaS architectures, cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure), and microservices.
- Deep understanding of software development best practices, DevOps, CI/CD, and modern front-end/back-end frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with API integrations, database management, and performance optimization.
Nice-to-Haves
- Prior experience at a SaaS startup or B2B software company.
- Knowledge of AI/ML, automation, and data-driven decision-making.

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $220,000 – $260,000 base + annual discretionary cash bonus + equity.
- PTO: Unlimited.
- Health Benefits: While medical, dental, and vision coverage are not currently offered, a reimbursement program is available to help offset health-related expenses.
