Workday (HCM) System Administrator (Remote 12 months+ Contract)

In this role, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining Workday Human Capital Management (HCM), ensuring the system is optimized to support the organization’s HR operations and broader mission. Your expertise will help create a seamless user experience for employees, protect data integrity, and support system updates and integrations.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure and maintain Workday modules based on business requirements, including employee profiles, job structures, compensation plans, benefits, leave policies, and performance management.
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity through validation, cleansing, and importing processes.
- Manage user accounts, roles, and security settings to maintain compliance and confidentiality.
- Develop and deliver customized reports and dashboards to provide insights into HR metrics and trends.
- Lead system updates, enhancements, and new module implementations while minimizing disruption to users.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting to ensure smooth operation of Workday functionalities.
- Collaborate with HR stakeholders to identify opportunities for process optimization within Workday and across integrated systems.
- Oversee system integrations, ensuring seamless data synchronization and functionality.
- Develop training materials and documentation to support Workday users across the organization.
- Act as a backup to the HCM Security Administrator for managing system permissions.
Project Support Responsibilities
- Collaborate with HR and IT stakeholders to forecast system changes, enhancements, and projects.
- Work closely with internal teams to manage the project lifecycle, from ideation to implementation.
- Help prioritize work based on impact and organizational needs.
- Support business analysts and HR teams in gathering and verifying system requirements.
- Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to plan for system updates and maintenance.
- Assist in quality assurance testing to ensure system functionality aligns with business needs.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in Workday HCM system administration and configuration, including Core HCM, Payroll, Benefits, Talent Management, Reporting, and Security.
- Strong understanding of HR processes and best practices.
- Ability to manage integrations and maintain data accuracy.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
- Ability to create and maintain technical documentation and support materials.
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working for a nonprofit organization or mission-driven employer.
- Workday certification(s).
- Business analysis experience with requirements documentation and verification.
- Experience managing integrations with Workday.
- Familiarity with Workday Finance modules and HR system enhancements.
- Experience with HR technology, including learning and development platforms and recruiting tools.
- Prosci’s ADKAR certification or Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) certification.
