POSITION SUMMARY
Our client is a mission-driven retail nonprofit operating 38 locations across Colorado. They are replacing their legacy analog phone system with a modern cloud-based VOIP platform—store by store—and the roadmap is already built. They need someone to execute it.
This role is 100% migration-focused for the first 6–8 months: disassembling legacy infrastructure, porting phone numbers, configuring VOIP, and maintaining analog for stores still in queue. You need to know these systems well enough to roll back from VOIP to analog when needed. Once the migration wraps, the role transitions to ongoing telecom maintenance—and for the right person, expands into desktop, AV, and infrastructure support on a small, collaborative IT team led by a VP who actively encourages growth.
Open to an experienced contract migrator for the 6–8 month project or a candidate seeking a long-term full-time home.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Execute store-by-store analog-to-VOIP migration per the established roadmap
- Port and transfer phone numbers from analog infrastructure to the new cloud VOIP platform
- Disassemble legacy analog equipment at each location post-migration
- Maintain existing analog systems at stores still in the migration queue
- Configure and validate VOIP-to-analog rollback capability at each site during transition
- Coordinate with the VOIP vendor’s support team; assist in platform evaluation and selection
- Troubleshoot voice routing, connectivity, and call quality issues across 38 distributed locations
- Transition to ongoing telecom network maintenance and broader IT support post-migration
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
- 3+ years in telecom support with direct analog-to-VOIP migration experience
- Hands-on knowledge of legacy analog/POTS systems: line infrastructure, number porting, punchdowns
- Experience with cloud-based VOIP platforms (RingCentral, Dialpad, Nextiva, or similar): call routing, IVR, number porting, and platform administration
- Ability to support analog and VOIP environments simultaneously during an active migration
- Strong independent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills; comfortable in field and retail settings
- Physical requirements: ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs, climb ladders, and stand or walk for extended periods during on-site store work
- Customer service orientation—you’ll interface daily with store staff across multiple locations
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future
ADDITIONAL PLUS
- Avaya or legacy PBX platform experience
- Multi-location telecom migration project experience (end-to-end ownership)
- Desktop support, AV, or infrastructure support experience
- Retail IT environment background
