Our client, who is in the insurance space, is looking for a Scrum Master who is interested in empowering teams in an Agile environment. This individual will pull from their experience to coach, lead, and support self-organizing teams while contributing to building an environment of continuous improvement.
What you can expect:
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies and team discussions such as stand-ups, retrospectives, team celebrations, issue resolution, sprint planning, etc. to enable the team to deliver value
- Amplify blockers and aid the team in identifying a clear a path for resolution.
- Coach the team to build collaborative and productive relationships; address any conflict and deliver a quick resolution
- Partner with the Product Owner to ensure the team has an adequate amount of work to pull into the system.
- Implement a framework of Agile terminology and tools in relation to each team’s maturity level and type of work to drive consistency.
- Collaborate with the team to continuously improve its internal practices and processes
- Partner with the Delivery Services team and Product Owners to coordinate timelines, manage risks, and sequence dependencies across teams.
- Assume a servant leadership role to support self-organized teams.
- Identify and manage the Delivery team backlog.
- Facilitate applicable product discovery ceremonies in close collaboration with the Product Owner
- Leverage Delivery team metrics to identify opportunities for the team to improve practices and accurately forecast when work items will be completed.
- Make data available to the Delivery team to manage aging work in progress and easily identify actions to ensure on-time delivery of epics.
- May serve as a more traditional project manager when necessary – Leading definition of scope, creating and tracking project schedules, coordinating tasks and dependencies, creating and managing action items with stakeholders, including those outside of the Delivery team.
What you need to be successful:
- 1+ years experience in an agile environment, facilitating Agile ceremonies and team discussions.
- Familiarity and working knowledge of various Agile approaches, including: Lean, Kanban, Scrum.
- A technical background that enables interaction with technology teams and the communication skills needed to explain the team’s progress and accomplishments in non-technical terms.
- Agile certification or equivalent experience leading a software development team is required. Examples, but not a complete list, of acceptable certifications include: PMP- Agile Certified Practitioner (PMP-ACP), Kanban Certified Management Professional (KMP), Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Advanced Certified Scrum Master (A-CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM1).
- Strong knowledge of Agile principles and practices required.
- Experience with Actionable Agile or other similar Agile management tools
- Experience using historical team data to accurately forecast deadlines and manage expectations.
- Familiarity with project management principles and ability to create project schedules.
- Coaching: Ability to understand others’ perspectives and guide conversations towards business agility and product outcomes.

- Motivating Others: Ability to inspire and motivate others to reach goals and innovate through exhibiting resilience and encouraging a team mindset.
